Write Up
Few players boosted their draft stock this year like Villanova SG Donte DiVincenzo. He’s a versatile SG who has solid size at 6’4.5″ and 200 lbs, he has the ability to create off the bounce and make plays for others which suggests that he may be able to play some spot PG mins in the NBA. He played and tested well at the NBA draft combine and led all participants with a 42″ vertical leap, he does a good job using his athleticism when crashing the glass and finishing in the paint. From a quickness standpoint, DiVincenzo is laterally quick defensively and is fast driving in a straight line, but needs to continue improving his quickness with the dribble. His lack of counter moves limits his quickness and can make him fairly predictable at times. Offensively, DiVincenzo is a good shooter and all around scorer as he shot 40.1% from deep on over 5 attempts per game and showed the ability to finish around the hoop/pull-up off the dribble. However, DiVincenzo needs to continue adding to his shot diversity by adding a runner/floater game, he only attempted a runner 4 times this past season and with his size, having that shot in his bag would really elevate his scoring ability in the NBA. Defensively, he’s a tough/gritty player who can match up against a various positions, but will need to continue improving his efficiency in ISO and post situations. Overall, there’s a lot to like about DiVincenzo’s game, he has a high floor as a role player and projects to be a smart/versatile scorer in the NBA.
