Write Up
Chimezie Metu has been on the draft radar for a few years now thanks to his physical tools and offensive potential. Metu has a strong frame/base, he’s listed at 225 lbs, but has the room to fill out as he matures. He is a good athlete who can get up the floor in a hurry and elevate nicely for lob finishes and rebounds. He has a fairly quick 1st step and can take advantage of slower defenders with his creating ability and speed. Offensively, Metu scores in a variety of ways and shows flashes of being able to stretch the floor and score inside, but has yet to fully put it together. He has the IQ and skill set to continue developing offensively, but it’s unlikely he becomes a go to scorer in the NBA. Defensively, Metu can be a very productive player, he has good versatility due to his lateral quickness, instincts, and strength. Metu lacks the length you’d like to see from a potential rim protecting PF/C (6’11” wingspan), but can make up for it to a degree with his quick twitch and vertical abilities. Overall, Metu is an interesting prospect who is worth a flier and could blossom into a consistent role player if placed into the right situation.
