Dejounte Murray seems programmed for the NBA style of game. He has the size, handle, and vision to play either PG or SG in the NBA. He can also guard both positions with his length and quickness. He will need to bulk up in order to guard larger SG’s as he is very slender at the moment. Murray is very crafty with the basketball and can get wherever he wants on the court. Once he gets into the lane he is very good at finishing using floaters, scoop shots, and after contact. Murray is a very good rebounder for his size and is able to push the ball very quickly after defensive boards (he is a fast break machine). He has good vision and is able to pass over smaller guards. Murray is mentally tough and will not shy away from big shots or from trying to take over a game. Murray does need to improve his decision making, he will force shots or passes which lead to turnovers. His shooting has potential, but he needs to be more consistent from 3pt range and off pull ups. Lastly Murray is very quick and crafty, but he doesn’t have the best explosiveness on his vertical. This may not be an issue in the NBA, but with more athletic defenders guarding him it may hurt his ability to get off shots. Overall Murray has the potential to be like a Jamal Crawford in the NBA and will be a very nice pickup later in the draft. If he were to stay in school another year he would most likely be a lottery pick in next years draft.
